WA State Advisory Committee Member Profiles
Dr Sumich has been the Chairperson for the MDA National State Advisory Committee WA since 2018, having joined the committee in 2013. She has been a GP for 23 years, working predominantly in metropolitan Perth. She is passionate about doctors’ health and wellbeing and was appointed to the MDA National Underwriting Committee in 2019, bringing to the committee her knowledge of medical practice and the human factors involved in medico-legal claims.

Dr Glennon is a Consultant Physician / Geriatrician with over 20 years clinical experience in the public health system and a special interest in Orthogeriatric and peri-operative medicine.

Dr Glennon was appointed as a non-executive director of the East Metropolitan Health Service in 2017 and is currently the Chair of the Safety and Quality Committee. Her expertise lies in clinical governance, safety and quality assurance and continual quality improvement in health care.

She is also actively involved in medical education at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels and is an examiner for the Royal Australasian College of Physicians.

Rupert Ledger graduated in the UK in 2001 and trained as an anaesthetist in Perth. He is a consultant anaesthetist at Fiona Stanley Hospital and St John of God Murdoch.

His practices include anaesthesia for high risk obstetrics, major upper gastrointestinal surgery, head and neck surgery, ortho-geriatrics and general orthopaedic surgery. He has previously headed up the obstetric service at Kaleeya Hospital and then Fiona Stanley Hospital, establishing the new service in the that hospital. He has previously been the anaesthetic quality and safety officer at FSH and has so far convened a total of 8 conferences.
Associate Professor Rob Paul graduated from UWA in 1992 and completed Ophthalmology specialist training in 2001 in Western Australia. He then undertook Fellowship training in Corneal and Refractive surgery at the University of Toronto in 2002.

He currently works as the Medical Director and a Consultant Ophthalmologist at WA Laser Eye Centre with a special interest in Cataract, Corneal and Laser Refractive Surgery. He has a longstanding history of working in educational environments such as the WA Branch of RANZCO in which he served as Secretary and Treasurer and is currently a Federal Councillor on the RANZCO board. In addition he is a Part 1 RANZCO Examiner in Optics and a serving Adjunct Senior Lecturer at Curtin Medical School. He is an Adjunct Associate Professor at the UWA School of Optometry.

He was a Consultant Ophthalmologist at Fremantle Hospital and has a VMO position at Bentley Hospital and actively involved in teaching Ophthalmology registrars and medical students.
Dr Wesseldine is a dual-trained General Physician, Geriatrician and Stroke Physician. Originally from New Zealand, he moved to Perth in 2002 to complete his dual training in General Medicine and Geriatrics. Dr Wesseldine works at both Joondalup Health Campus (Director of Clinical Innovation and Reform) and St John of God Subiaco Hospital (Consultant Physician, Geriatrician and Stroke Physician). He is also currently the WA State Stroke Director at the Department of Health.
Mr Zandi graduated from UWA in 1991 and completed his orthopaedic training in 2001. He spent a year in Melbourne undertaking upper limb and shoulder fellowship at Monash. He has been in orthopaedic practice as an upper limb surgeon since 2003. His areas of interest are shoulders and wrists. He currently works at both Joondalup Health Campus and Hollywood Private Hospital.
